Sydney Dog Photography

Client Photography Agreement & Information Guide

Thank you for choosing Sydney Dog Photography.

My aim is to create beautiful, natural photographs that capture your dog’s personality and give you images you’ll enjoy for years to come.

To keep everything clear and simple, the following terms outline how bookings, sessions, image delivery and image use work.

By booking a photography session, accepting a quote, paying a booking fee or invoice, or proceeding with a photography session, you agree to the terms below.

1. Your Photography Session

Every dog is different, and every photography session unfolds in its own way.

I will always do my best to create a varied collection of beautiful images, but specific poses, expressions, locations or photographs cannot be guaranteed.

Dogs are never expected to behave perfectly. Leads can often remain on during the session and may be removed during editing where practical.

The final selection of images is made by Sydney Dog Photography based on image quality, expression, composition and overall suitability.

2. Your Dog’s Safety & Behaviour

Your dog’s wellbeing always comes first.

Please let me know before your session if your dog:

  • is nervous or anxious;

  • is reactive around other dogs or people;

  • has a medical condition or injury;

  • has limited mobility;

  • requires additional space; or

  • has any behavioural concerns I should be aware of.

You remain responsible for your dog throughout the photography session.

If at any time I believe continuing the session may be unsafe or stressful for your dog, another person or the public, I may modify, pause or finish the session.

3. Booking Fees

Where a booking fee or deposit is required, your session date is not confirmed until that payment has been received.

Any booking fee forms part of the total photography package price unless otherwise stated.

Booking fees may be non-refundable where this has been clearly advised before booking, although I will always try to be reasonable where unexpected circumstances arise.

4. Rescheduling Your Session

I understand that life with dogs does not always go to plan.

If you need to reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible.

Where reasonable notice is given, I will normally transfer your booking to another suitable date.

Repeated rescheduling or last-minute changes may incur a rescheduling fee where this has been disclosed to you beforehand.

5. If Your Dog Is Sick or Injured

If your dog becomes unwell, injured or is simply not themselves before the session, please let me know.

In most cases it is better to reschedule than to put unnecessary pressure on your dog.

If I believe your dog is not well enough to comfortably participate in the session, I may recommend postponing the photography session to another date.

6. Weather

Many Sydney Dog Photography sessions take place outdoors and depend on suitable weather and light.

I may recommend rescheduling because of:

  • heavy rain;

  • extreme heat;

  • dangerous weather;

  • unsuitable light;

  • strong winds;

  • unsafe environmental conditions; or

  • another condition likely to significantly affect the session.

Where I recommend a weather-related reschedule, your booking will be transferred to another suitable date without a rescheduling charge.

7. Photography Style & Editing

By booking Sydney Dog Photography, you acknowledge that you are familiar with the style of photography shown on my website and social media.

Your finished images may include professional adjustments such as:

  • colour correction;

  • exposure adjustments;

  • cropping;

  • contrast and tonal adjustments;

  • removal of leads where practical;

  • removal of minor distractions; and

  • natural retouching where appropriate.

The final editing style and appearance of the images remain at the creative discretion of Sydney Dog Photography.

RAW files and unedited photographs are not supplied unless specifically agreed in writing.

8. Reshoots

A reshoot will not normally be offered simply because a dog did not perform a particular pose or look towards the camera.

Dogs are unpredictable, and this is part of the nature of pet photography.

However, if a session cannot reasonably be completed because of circumstances within my control, I may offer a replacement session or another appropriate solution.

Any reshoot arrangements will be considered fairly based on the circumstances of the original session.

9. Image Selection & Gallery Delivery

Following your session, your photographs will be professionally selected and edited.

Only photographs that meet Sydney Dog Photography’s professional standards will be delivered.

Images that are duplicates, test shots, out of focus, incorrectly exposed or otherwise unsuitable will not normally be included.

Your finished photographs will generally be delivered through an online gallery or another agreed delivery method.

Estimated delivery times will be provided where appropriate, although delivery times may vary depending on workload and the amount of editing required.

10. Saving Your Images

Once your gallery has been delivered, please download and safely back up your photographs.

Sydney Dog Photography may keep copies of your image files for a period of time, but permanent storage cannot be guaranteed.

I recommend keeping your photographs backed up in at least two separate locations.

11. Your Personal Use of the Images

Images supplied as part of a private dog photography session may be used for your personal and domestic enjoyment.

This includes:

  • displaying them in your home;

  • creating personal prints and albums;

  • sharing them with friends and family;

  • using them as personal wallpapers or screensavers; and

  • posting them on your personal social media accounts.

You are welcome to share your photographs online.

Where possible, a credit or tag for Sydney Dog Photography is always appreciated.

12. Printing Your Images

You are welcome to print photographs supplied with personal printing rights.

Please be aware that image colour, brightness and cropping can vary between printers and print suppliers.

Sydney Dog Photography cannot guarantee the quality, colour accuracy or cropping of prints ordered through an external supplier chosen by the Client.

For the best results, professional printing through Sydney Dog Photography or a professional photographic laboratory is recommended.

13. Commercial Use

Your photography package is intended for personal use unless commercial usage has been specifically agreed.

Images may not be sold, licensed or supplied to another business for commercial advertising, product promotion, packaging or marketing without prior written agreement.

If a business, publication, breeder, pet brand or other organisation would like to use one of your photographs commercially, please contact Sydney Dog Photography first so that appropriate usage can be discussed.

14. Use of Images by Sydney Dog Photography

Showing examples of my work is an important part of running Sydney Dog Photography and allows future clients to see the style and quality of photography I offer.

By booking a session and agreeing to these terms, you give Sydney Dog Photography permission to use selected photographs created during your session for the purpose of promoting Sydney Dog Photography and its photography services.

This may include use on:

  • the Sydney Dog Photography website;

  • online photography galleries and portfolios;

  • Instagram, Facebook and other social media accounts;

  • digital advertising;

  • printed advertisements;

  • brochures, flyers and promotional materials;

  • signage;

  • photography competitions and awards;

  • exhibitions;

  • studio displays; and

  • other promotional material directly connected with Sydney Dog Photography.

This permission is non-exclusive, royalty-free and ongoing.

Sydney Dog Photography will not sell or license images from your private photography session to an unrelated company for that company’s advertising or commercial marketing without obtaining separate permission.

Your private contact information, home address or other personal information will not be published alongside your photographs without permission.

15. Photographs Featuring People

Some dog photography sessions may also include owners, family members or children.

Where adults appear prominently in photographs, they should be made aware that photographs are being taken.

Where photographs prominently featuring children are to be used for promotional purposes, Sydney Dog Photography may request permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian.

If you have any concerns about photographs of yourself or family members being used publicly, please discuss this with me before your session.

16. Copyright & Image Rights

Copyright ownership can vary depending on the circumstances under which photography is commissioned and applicable Australian copyright law.

Regardless of the legal copyright position, by agreeing to these terms you give Sydney Dog Photography permission to use selected photographs for the promotional purposes outlined above.

You retain the personal usage rights provided with your photography package.

17. Social Media

You are very welcome to share your photographs on personal social media accounts.

When sharing images, please avoid applying heavy filters, colour changes or editing that significantly alters the finished photograph.

Crediting or tagging Sydney Dog Photography is appreciated, particularly when posting publicly.

18. Loss of Images or Equipment Failure

Every reasonable precaution is taken to protect your photographs.

In the unlikely event that images are lost, corrupted or unable to be delivered because of equipment failure, memory-card failure, data loss or another unforeseen technical issue, Sydney Dog Photography will work with you to provide an appropriate solution.

Where practical, this may include offering a reshoot.

19. Circumstances Outside Our Control

Sydney Dog Photography is not responsible for delays or changes caused by circumstances reasonably outside our control, including severe weather, illness, natural disasters, venue closures, government restrictions or other unexpected events.

Where possible, I will work with you to rearrange the session or find a fair alternative.

20. Your Australian Consumer Rights

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other rights that cannot legally be excluded.

21. Agreement to These Terms

By:

  • booking a photography session;

  • accepting a quote;

  • paying a booking fee;

  • paying an invoice; or

  • proceeding with your photography session after being provided with these terms,

you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the Sydney Dog Photography Client Photography Agreement & Information Guide.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss any part of these terms, please contact Sydney Dog Photography before your session.
